The Power of What Is Within You

Before a statue is carved, an album is cut, or a book has a cover…it existed in the mind and heart of its creator.

Michelangelo’s “David” began as a 5 meter piece of marble that had been quarried 40 years before and was ultimately rejected by another sculptor due to its inferior quality.

Suffice it to say, Michelangelo made the most of the material he was given.

Where did the idea of “David” originate? According to Michelangelo…it was already in the marble:

The sculpture is already complete within the marble block, before I start my work. It is already there, I just have to chisel away the superfluous material.
Michelangelo is known for working nonstop-no food, no sleep-to get all that superfluous material out of the way. Once he was engaged with the creation, he committed himself to it until its full essence was made real.

Your creation…no matter what it might be…already exists and is waiting for you to bring it forth.
